Last week in Spain saw questions raised over the recruiting process of Middle Eastern carriers, particularly Kuwait Airways, when elDiario.es published a report from three candidates from a selection event in Madrid, affirming they were exposed to sexist and vexing conditions.
The interviewees, the most prominent of which was a 23-year-old named Bianca, accused the recruiters of asking candidates of being in underwear only to check if the candidates had no visible tattoos.
This Wednesday, the flag carrier of the State of Kuwait has officially taken a stance on the accusations it has received in Spain over its recruiting process.
The release reads: «Kuwait Airways, for the past five years, uses the same third-party cabin crew recruitment agency that 90% of the area[‘s] airlines have utilized. As a highly reputable airline that has been employing people from across the globe in the 68 years since its establishment.»
The airline continues, saying that «No such serious accusation has ever been made against it […] we wish to highlight that Kuwait Airways can not condone any processes that humiliate or degrades any person. We wish to inform the public at this point that a full investigation is being conducted with all the parties and based on the findings, appropriate measures will be taken».
According to La Vanguardia, the third-party company responsible for the selection of candidates, Meccti, has also defended itself, denying the accusations and saying it will sue Bianca.
