Ola Mayorista de Turismo and Aerolíneas Argentinas launch charter flight from Rosario to Cabo Frío
Ola Mayorista de Turismo, in collaboration with Aerolíneas Argentinas, has announced the launch of a direct charter flight from Rosario to Cabo Frío, aiming to strengthen tourism from Argentina’s interior. Departures are scheduled every Saturday from June 28 to August 16, 2025, coinciding with the peak of the Argentine winter season.
The service will be operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 172 passengers, providing a nonstop connection of approximately three hours between Rosario’s “Islas Malvinas” International Airport and Cabo Frío Airport, which is located just 25 kilometers from Búzios, offering convenient access to tourist destinations such as Búzios, Arraial do Cabo, and Cabo Frío.
For travelers heading to these destinations, the nonstop flight to Cabo Frío is an advantage over GOL’s regular service between Rosario and Rio de Janeiro (three flights per week), since the distance from Galeão Airport to Búzios is about 200 kilometers.
According to the website Punto Biz, the travel package includes the Rosario–Cabo Frío flight, a 20 kg checked baggage allowance, hotel or inn accommodations in Búzios, Arraial do Cabo, and Cabo Frío, airport transfers, and Assist Card Platinum travel insurance.
Although the flights to Cabo Frío are closed charters (available only as part of a package sold through travel agencies), the initiative is still seen as a positive development for the international connectivity of Rosario International Airport and its surrounding region.
In addition to GOL’s three weekly flights to Rio de Janeiro, Rosario also has 10 weekly flights by Copa Airlines to Panama and 3 by LATAM to Lima. In the winter, Aerolíneas Argentinas will resume flights to Rio de Janeiro and Punta Cana, each with one weekly service.
Thus, Rosario has been steadily regaining ground lost during the pandemic, with a 114% increase in international passenger traffic between January and March 2025, totaling 98,000 travelers. In contrast, domestic traffic dropped by 23%, with 59,000 passengers handled in the same period, reflecting a trend toward increased outbound tourism.
If macroeconomic conditions remain stable, Rosario’s international offerings are expected to expand further by the summer. In fact, LATAM announced two weeks ago that it will begin flying from São Paulo, providing a new connection not only to Brazil’s main hub, but also to Europe and Africa.
