This December 4, Andes Líneas Aéreas operated a special flight to the Islas Malvinas, transporting a delegation of relatives of soldiers fallen in the war. The operation was organized by the Association of Relatives of Fallen Soldiers in Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands, with the collaboration of Corporación América and Aeropuertos Argentina.
The Boeing 737-7800 registered LV-HKS took off at 01:56 today, Thursday (4), from Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). It landed in Río Gallegos (RGL) at 04:48 to undergo pre-departure checks before continuing to Mount Pleasant (MPN), where it arrived at 07:30.
150 relatives visited the Darwin Cemetery, where the remains of the soldiers fallen in the Malvinas rest. This act also contributes to keeping the collective memory of the 1982 conflict alive. In an interview with the media outlet LU17, representatives of Andes emphasized that the operation was meticulously planned to ensure safety. During the approach to the islands, the aircraft performed a flyover of the Darwin Cemetery.
After staying eight hours on the islands, the relatives departed from Mount Pleasant at 15:42, arriving at Ezeiza International Airport at 18:21.
This is the second time the airline has participated in logistics of this kind. In 2018, it used two McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft, marking the return of an Argentine commercial aircraft to the islands after 36 years. A year earlier, the identification of more than a hundred Argentine soldiers in the Darwin Cemetery had been achieved, a significant event for their families.
