United Airlines has announced an extension of its seasonal nonstop services between Spain and the United States for the winter 2025 season, lengthening the operational window for three of its transatlantic routes connecting Madrid and Barcelona with Washington D.C. and Chicago.
According to the airline, the Madrid–Washington D.C. route will now operate until December 17, 2025, and resume on March 6, 2026. Previously, the service was scheduled to end on December 2 and restart on March 29.
Meanwhile, the route between Barcelona and Chicago O’Hare, initially set to end on October 25, 2025, will be extended through December 2. The Barcelona–Washington D.C. service will continue through January 5, 2026, instead of concluding on December 18, 2025, as originally planned.
United will operate these flights four times per week during the winter, giving travelers in Spain expanded access to destinations across the Americas via the airline’s hubs in Washington D.C. and Chicago O’Hare.
The decision to extend these services reflects market demand and a growing interest in providing more international travel options during the off-peak season.
