Ryanair announced an expansion of its operations in Germany two months after declaring it would reduce its flights to the country due to high taxes and airport fees. In this new update, it will return to Lübeck (LBC) after a decade and add new destinations in Münster/Osnabrück (FMO).
In October, the Irish low-cost carrier stated it would reduce its flight offerings in Germany by 12% for the summer of 2025, resulting in 1.8 million fewer seats and 22 canceled routes. This led to the closure of its base in Dortmund, Dresden, and Leipzig and a reduction of its flights by 60% in Hamburg and 20% in Berlin for the summer of 2025.
In a new update, the low-cost airline introduced three routes to Lübeck (LBC) and two to Münster/Osnabrück (FMO), including destinations in Spain.
«With London-Stansted, we now once again have a connection to a European metropolis directly from Lübeck. Especially today, it is important to maintain the competitiveness of northern Germany through air connections. We have worked hard to develop an airport that allows airlines and passengers to travel comfortably and quickly,» stated Jürgen Friedel, CEO of Lübeck Airport, welcoming the launch of Ryanair’s bookings.
