Iberia will have more than 300 weekly flights to Latin America for the winter season
Iberia has scheduled for the winter season a 14% increase in its flights between Spain and Latin America compared to pre-pandemic levels, thus enhancing connectivity between both regions and consolidating Madrid – Barajas Airport as a bridge between Europe and Latin America.
With this in mind, Iberia is increasing seat capacity and frequencies on both sides of the Atlantic, where it will reach 300 weekly flights for the first time. This winter, the Spanish airline will provide more than two million seats between Europe and Latin America, a record schedule that demonstrates the importance of this market.
«We are developing an ambitious plan in Latin America and the Caribbean that will give a great boost to connectivity with this region and, above all, will allow us to reinforce the role of Madrid airport as a bridge between Europe and Latin America. In addition to this record increase in frequencies, we are adding a more sustainable fleet and improvements to our in-flight experience to position ourselves as the best option for flying between the two sides of the Atlantic«, said María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial and Network Development and Alliances Director.
Mexico City and Bogota will be Iberia’s main destinations in Latin America, both cities will have a schedule of three daily flights operated exclusively by Airbus A350-900.
Peru and Brazil, ramping up to attend demand
In Peru, the airline consolidates its services by increasing its flights between Madrid and Lima to 13 weekly flights. Chile fully recovers its pre-pandemic capacity by returning to a schedule of 10 flights a week between the Spanish capital and Santiago operated on Airbus A350-900s.
Sao Paulo will maintain its daily flight and the Madrid – Rio de Janeiro route will increase from 3 to 4 flights a week, Iberia will have a total of 11 flights a week between Europe and Brazil. In Argentina, the airline will fly twice a day to Buenos Aires.
Ecuador will have 10 weekly flights, the service to Quito will be increased to daily and will be complemented by the three weekly flights to Guayaquil. Operations in Venezuela will also be boosted by increasing the Madrid – Caracas route from 3 to 5 flights a week. In addition, the schedule to Montevideo will continue with daily flights.
The Caribbean, key for Iberia’s growth
In the Caribbean, Iberia will boost its services in the Dominican Republic by offering 9 weekly flights in January and 10 in February on the Madrid – Santo Domingo route. In Puerto Rico, it will increase connectivity between San Juan and Spain by offering five flights a week in November and flying daily by early 2024. In addition, the connection to Havana will have three weekly flights.
In Central America, the routes to Guatemala City, San Salvador, San José de Costa Rica and Panama – Tocumen will have a daily flight.
