Air Lease Corporation (ALC), based in Los Angeles, signed long-term leasing agreements for three Boeing 787-9 aircraft with Thai Airways International. These new aircraft, part of the Dreamliner family, are scheduled to be delivered to the Thai airline in 2025, coming from ALC’s order book with Boeing.
A New Strategic Alliance
Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation, expressed his satisfaction in announcing this transaction with Thai Airways International, a new client for ALC. «We are honored to add these three Dreamliner aircraft to Thai Airways’ growing wide-body fleet and look forward to a long-term relationship with the airline,» said Udvar-Házy.
For his part, Chi Yan, Senior Vice President of Air Lease Corporation, highlighted the importance of the new Boeing 787-9 in the expansion of Thai Airways’ global network, with plans to operate them on routes to Europe, Australia, and within Asia, thus enhancing its international connectivity.
Commitment to Modernization and Efficiency
Chai Eamsiri, CEO of Thai Airways International, shared his excitement for adding these aircraft to his fleet. «We are delighted to start this new partnership with ALC, which underscores our commitment to fleet modernization and delivering exceptional comfort and efficiency to our passengers,» stated Eamsiri.
The addition of the Boeing 787-9 is a significant step in Thai Airways’ strategy to strengthen its position as a leader in the airline industry, he said.
This agreement is in addition to the one signed with AerCap to incorporate seventeen leased aircraft, including Airbus A350 and A321neo, Boeing 787, and options for the 777X.
